DESIblitz.com shortlisted for ‘Best Website’ Asian Media Award
Aidem Digital’s flagship project, the vibrant lifestyle web magazine, DESIblitz.com, has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Website’ category at the first ever Asian Media Awards to take place at the Hilton in Manchester on 31st October 2013.
The Asian Media Awards 2013 is supported by ITV, MediaCom, UKTI, BizAsia, Hilton, Creatv Broadcast, lendwithcare.org and others giving the Asian Media industry a platform for recognition for the first time. From journalists working in local newspapers and internet bloggers to TV presenters and PR experts, the Asian Media Awards is dedicated to rewarding their talent, drive and potential. The event will showcase the very best talent working in the Asian and mainstream media.
DESIblitz.com has been selected amongst stiff competition in the ‘Best Website’ category as one of the highly recognised on-line brands working hard to present journalism and digital media content within an original style and context.
The on-line publication was highly recommended for the category by a number of prestigious media organisations and press agencies that it has worked with over a number of years.
Indi Deol, Managing Director of Aidem Digital said:
“We are very proud to have been selected in the best website category by the Asian Media Awards 2013.”
“It has given the whole team at DESIblitz.com a huge boost to be recognised for their hard work, effort and time that goes on behind the scenes to bring our growing audience NEWS, GOSSIP and GUPSHUP!”
DESIblitz.com has over 11.8 million hits per month and is exponentially growing with its largest target audience based in the UK, followed India, USA, Canada, Pakistan and mainland Europe. Content for the publication is produced by a dedicated editorial, visual and writing team of over 20 members based in the UK and globally.
As a lifestyle publication the website features stories in ten core categories which are Arts & Culture, Brit-Asian, Cinema, Fashion, Food, Health & Beauty, Music & Dance, Taboo, Sport and Travel. It is dedicated to research and present informative, interesting and well-presented content to its audiences.
One of the key differentiators for the website is to produce articles that have a true magazine style and include videos specially filmed and edited by the visual team. The aim always has been quality over quantity and an ethos of selectivity to ensure the highest publishing standards.
Indi said:
“From starting in 2008, the senior editorial team always has had the drive and vision to produce a publication rich in content but different with the aspiration to lead and not follow.
“We feel the awards nomination has definitely provided a fantastic milestone in our journey but there is definitely lots more to do! From the outside, it might look easy and simple to do but try asking the team that!”
The finalists will be judged by professionals from the Asian Media and mainstream industry including, Lisa Aziz, the first Asian female news presenter on British national television; Ian Burrell, the Media Editor and Assistant Editor at The Independent newspaper; Pedro Carvalho, Director at FNIK who has working within the Ethnic media industry for over 15 years; Shamim Chowdhury, Deputy News Editor at Al Jazeera English; Vidar Hjardeng MBE, a Diversity and Leadership Development Consultant with a tremendous television background; Tony Johnston the Head of Press Association Training; Sanjay Shabi, the Director of CultureCom @ Mediacom; Vijay Sharma the Former Head of BBC Asian Network; Amar Singh, the Managing Editor at Goal.com, the largest football website in the world, and Jane Smith, the Founder of Smith & Smith PR.
For DESIblitz.com it is business as usual, continually improving its content offering to its audiences. However, winning the award will give the team and publication an extra incentive to work harder.
