The University of Salford served as the premier sponsor, alongside partners including ITV, MediaCom, Reach PLC, Manchester Evening News, Press Association Training, and TheBusinessDesk.com.

Journalists, writers, and bloggers attended the 2021 AMAs, where many were honored for their contributions to the UK media industry as British South Asians. Bela Shah, presenter for Sky Sports News, hosted the event, expressing her delight at being part of an event that recognizes the talent within the media industry.

The 2021 AMAs recognized the hard work and dedication of nominees across various categories, underscoring the significance of Asian media in the UK, especially following the challenges posed by the pandemic. Among the winners were Rohit Kachroo, Lalita Ahmed, and Noreen Khan, who were honored for their contributions to Asian media.

DESIblitz.com was honored with the ‘Best Publication/Website’ award for the fourth time, solidifying its position as a highly regarded publication for the British and South Asian diaspora, delivering news and lifestyle content. The award was accepted by DESIblitz editors, Faisal Shafi and Balraj Sohal, marking the platform’s fourth win in this category.

Indi Deol, Managing Director of DESIblitz, expressed gratitude for the recognition, particularly amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic. Faisal Shafi, Events and Features Editor, credited the victory to the collective effort of the DESIblitz team, acknowledging the contributions of various teams, writers, contributors, and supporters.

Indi Deol, Managing Director, said: “To receive this reward now as we emerge out of the pandemic makes it even more significant. “We have had a difficult couple of years during Covid but the team has continued to work hard and show their grit through the hardest of times, they truly deserve this award. “Being honoured by our peers is hugely gratifying and I’m thankful to my colleagues in the media industry that voted for us to be the overall winners this year. “We don’t set out to win awards we just do the best we can day in and day out.”

The Asian Media Awards spotlight the significance of Asian media within the UK and its role in bridging ethnic communities with the mainstream media. With 21 deserving winners, the Asian Media Awards continue to grow in prominence and significance. Congratulations to all the winners!
